He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smith and Louise Smith (Knight); his wife Mary Margaret Rine Smith; his son Charles Arthur Smith; his brothers, Dale Smith, Otis Smith and Russell Smith; and his grandson Chad Smith.
He is survived by: his son Larry Joe Smith (Linda) of Rockport; his daughter-in-law Robin Smith of Terre Haute; his grandchildren, Sherri Ausbrooks, Terri Moore, Travis Smith and Tracy Greggs; and his sisters, Laveda Carr of Dugger and Jaunita Bose of Sullivan.
