He is survived by: his sons, Jeff Johnston (Chris) of Portage and Douglas Johnston (Marcia) of Graham; his grandchildren, Benjamin Johnston, Sarah Steffaniak, Hannah Zbinden, Avery Johnston and Zoe Johnston; his great grandchildren, Micah, Samson, Gabriel, Noelle and Ezra; and his siblings, Larry Johnston of Texas, Dennis Johnston (Ann) of Kokomo, Terry Johnston (Linda) of Culver, James Johnston (Sandy) of Winamac, Janet Harshman (Tim) of Logansport, Linda Dodson of Rochester, Wanda Miller of Macy and Wilma Cole (Rick) of Plymouth.
