He was predeceased by: his parents, Freeman Smalley and Dessell Smalley (Roberts); his wife Mary Pickett; his daughter Diana; and his grandson Isiah.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Steinman of Plainwell, Gary Smalley (Becky) of Tennessee and Richard Smalley (Patti) of Middleville. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
