He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Cottier and Ruby Gardner. He is survived by: his sons, Michael and Jamie Cottier (Emily); his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Amaya, Carter, Emberly and Reagan Cottier; his siblings, Howard Cottier (Linda), Debbie Etnyre and Cheryl Blain; his niece Rachael Gramajo; and his sister Nikki Kennard. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
