He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Houpt and Helen Houpt; his wife Doris Houpt; and his siblings, Edward Houpt and Shirley Houpt.

He is survived by: his brother Philip Houpt (Mary); and his children, Terry Houpt (Cindy), Kevin Houpt (Carol), Pamela Randles (Eric) and Valerie Smith (Ian). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
