It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sophia J. Whalen (Speedway, Indiana), born in Indianapolis, Indiana, who passed away on December 10, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John McAndrews and Sophia McAndrews; her granddaughter Susan Belmonte; and her siblings, Roseanna Crumbo, Josepha Beaudreault, John, Joseph, Thomas, Anthony, Richard and Jeremiah "Jerry" McAndrews.
She is survived by: her husband Edward Joseph "Joe" Whalen; and her children, Mike Whalen (Brenda), Mitzi Callaway (Richard), Mary Rector (Dennis), Nick Whalen (Amy), Shannon Estrada (Martin Guillermo) and Carol Belmonte (Tony Whalen). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
