He was predeceased by: his parents, Waldemar Hermerding and Norma Hermerding; and his brother Eric. He is survived by: his wife Jeannie Barbosa Hermerding; his children, Melissa and Matthew; his granddaughters, Lexi, Blakely and Kimber Hermerding; and his siblings, Kurt, Mark Hermerding and Ann Hartley.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to The Storehouse Food Pantry located at 5625 West 30th Street Speedway, IN 46224.
