He was predeceased by: his parents, Clara Esper Chambers Schmalz of Patricksburg and Clifton William Schmalz of Patricksburg; his wife Dorothy Louise Bever Schmalz; his daughter Linda Kay Schmalz McFerran (Kent); and his sister Carolyn Schoppenhorst (Charles).
He is survived by: his son George W. Schmalz (Carol) of Rockville, IN; his grandsons, Ryan M. McFerran Oceanside (Suzanne) and Colin M. McFerran (Megan) of Miramar, FL.; and his great grandchildren, Aubrey and Connor.
