He is survived by: his wife Hazel Ann Chaplin (Cook); his children, Candis Deitrick of Findlay, OH, Cindy Hatton (Clint) of South Whitley, Cheryl Hoffman (Kent) of Columbia City and Jeff Chaplin (Michelle) of Dry Ridge, KY; his grandchildren, Kristina Higgins (Jeremie), Amanda Stoffel (Tony), Tiffany Reed (Phil), Travis Hatton (Emilie), Lindsey Hierholzer (Kevin), Morgen Forsman (Phil), Lucy Chaplin and Cooper Chaplin; his sister Ruth Malcolm of Butler; and his sister-in-law Adonna Goings.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Smith & Sons Funeral Home (207 N Main St, Columbia City, IN 46725). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St John Lutheran Church (2465 W Keiser Rd, Columbia City, IN 46725).
