He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Smith and Ethel Smith; his brothers, Peter Smith and Floyd Smith; and his sister-in-law Joanne (Peter).
He is survived by: his sons, Steven Smith (Lisa) and Dennis Smith; and his stepchildren, Heidi Elick, Scott Elick (Heather), Matthew Elick (Kristi), Jason Elick (Sandy) and Jeff Elick. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grand children and various nieces and nephews, family, as well as many friends and neighbors.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Saint Joseph Funeral Home (824 S Mayflower Dr, South Bend, IN 46619). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Center for Hospice, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Animal Rescue.
