He was predeceased by: his wife Mary; his parents, Gaylord Powell and Josephine Powell; his brother Jerome Powell; and his brother-in-law Matthew John DeGeyter.
He is survived by: his sons, Phillip Powell of Gary, IN and Adam Powell of South Bend, IN; and his siblings, Thomas Powell (Laurie) of Hickory, NC, Sam Powell of Edwardsburg, MI, Joseph Powell of Mishawaka, IN, Diana Caldwell (Bobby Lee) of Osceola, IN, Kathryn Koen (Gary) of Waterloo, IL, Rita Bagnall (Robert) of South Bend, IN, Mary Gamache (Steven) of South Bend, IN, Cecilia Brendel (Michael) of Centerville, OH and Patricia DeGeyter of Mishawaka, IN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Joseph Funeral Home's Mayflower Road Chapel (824 S Mayflower Dr, South Bend, IN 46619). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (220 W 4th St, Mishawaka, IN 46544).
