He was predeceased by: his brother Tony Sims; his uncle Edward Sims; his father George Tony Sims; his sister Debra Atkinson; and his grandparents, Jasper Sims, Lillian Hagerty and Alvin.

He is survived by: his mother Sue Sims (Pride); his sisters, Penny Gibbs (Greg) and Annette Taylor; his brother-in-law Roger Atkison; and his nieces and nephews, Adam Atkison (Allie Friederichs), Ryan Atkison (Lauren), Tyler Gibbs, Trey Gibbs, Tanner Gibbs, Travis Gibbs (Kaziah), Seth Taylor (Courtney) and Ashley Taylor (Cory Spitznagel).
