He is survived by: his spouse Shelby Earl; and his children, Curtis Smith of Columbia City, Michelle Jackson (Mark) of Albion, Lisa Thurmond of Columbia City and Linda Gierek (Steve) of Shipshewana. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
