Clarence E. Bontrager Obituary
Clarence E. Bontrager, 88, of Shipshewana, died at 1:05 pm on Tuesday, July 17 at Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange, where he had stayed one month. He was born on February 8, 1930, in Shipshewana to Enos L. and Dahlila (Miller) Bontrager. On May 19, 1955 in LaGrange he married Hazel Ann Yoder, she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Wanita Jane (Louis) Showers of Washington, Patricia Ann (Jack) Rogers of Juliet, IL, Evelyn (Ron) Elenbaas of Crystal Lake, IL; two sons, Ronald Lee (Sharon) Bontrager of Cromwell, Bill Bontrager of Shipshewana; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister, Rosa Troyer of LaGrange.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Rugg; brother, Levi Bontrager; two half- brothers; one half-sister and a great-grandson, Phillip Estes. Clarence was a member of Shipshewana United Methodist Church and had worked at Holly Park Homes for over 25 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and raccoon hunter.
He enjoyed vacationing with his entire family and photographing nature. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, July 20, at Shore Church, 7235 W 100 N Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 21, also at the church. Services will be conducted by his son-in-law, Pastor Louis Showers.
Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
