He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Thurston and Mable Thurston (McDaniel); his wife Alean; and his siblings, Franklin Pierce Thurston, Maurice Thurston, Walter Thurston, Kenny Thurston, Joseph Thurston, Joann Coffey and Marilyn Baunsbach.
He is survived by: his daughters, Diana Shook (Gregory Shook), Barbara Smith (Todd Smith) and Kim Thurston (Matt Tracey); his grandchildren, Jennifer Mahan (Todd Mahan) and Todd Wesley Smith; his great grandchildren, Abigail, Annabelle and Agnes Mahan; and his sisters, Nelda Cheseborough and Linda Garlitch. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
