He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis. He is survived by: his children, Eric Rust (Jeanette), Retta Hentchel (Richard) and Bonnie Rust; his grandchildren, Matthew Starr (Natalie), Melvin Rust, Jamie Foss (David) and Jillian Hentchel; and his siblings, Mabel Gillespe (Bill), Lois Listak and Rolland Rust. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
