He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert Dotterer Sr. and Dorothy Joann Dotterer (Adams); and his sisters, Evelyn "Sis" Gabbard and Kate Miller. He is survived by: his wife Nora L. Hozey; his son James "Jim" Robert Dotterer III; his godson Vernon Valentine Hozey III; and his brothers, Bill Dotterer and Jeff Dotterer. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and in-laws.
