He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Louis and Emma Marie Borgman Newkirk; and his sisters, Marguerite Nolting, Katherine Noelker and Ella May Ulrich.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ida Pottschmidt of Brownstown; his sons, Karl F. Newkirk (Cathy) of Perry and Kurt W. Newkirk (Dawna) of Seymour; his grandchildren, Andrea, Emilee (Ian Brandt) and Jacob Newkirk (Taylor); and his great grandchild Ryleigh Rae.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran High School or Immanuel Lutheran School.
