He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto G. Behrens and Ida E. Behrens (Schwerdtfeger); his wife Jan of Seymour, IN; his siblings, Wilma Alpers, Elda Mayfield and Roy Behrens; and his siblings-in-law, Arlin Alpers, Leo Mayfield Jr. and Mildred Behrens.

He is survived by: his son Joel; and his daughter-in-law Heather. He is also survived by four nieces, and two nephews.

Memorials may be given to Concordia University – Nebraska, Seward, Immanuel Lutheran Church or School, Seymour, or personal choice.
