He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Carpenter and Judith Carpenter (Sweet); and his wife Rhonda Jean Vines. He is survived by: his children, Randy Polbito, Sara Carpenter, Shawna Campbell (Damon), Becky Carpenter, Rachael McCormick (Chris), Alison Maxie (Mark) and April Delos Santos (Angie); his siblings, Jim Carpenter (Natalie), Tim Carpenter (Anne), Paul Carpenter (Tammy), Mary Nowling (Mike) and Amy Brewer (J. L.); and his grandchildren, Cheyenne Campbell, Charlotte Campbell, Cameron Carpenter, Carter Maxie, Colt Maxie, Callie Maxie, Treyton McCormick, Kaylee McCormick, Adyson McCormick and Bailey McCormick.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (1501 Gaiser Dr, Seymour, IN 47274). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran School, or Donor's choice.
