She was predeceased by: her adoptive parents, Jack Nagel and Rebecca Nagel. She is survived by: her son Jacob Patus; and her stepson Matthew Patus.

Her family encourages donations to the Arbor Day Foundation or a local animal shelter as an expression of sympathy.
