He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelby Herald and Amanda Herald (Riley); his siblings, Harlan Riley, James Herald, Virginia Herald, Ruby Everhart and Pollie Berry; and his son-in-law Paul Shepherd.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann; his children, B. Scotty Herald (Leeann) and Michelle Herald Shepherd; his siblings, Bruce Herald (Margaret) and Velma R. Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Megan Messer (Garrett), Nathan Shepherd, Paul Shepherd, Jr., Harrison Shepherd, Michael Baker, David G'Fellers, Brittany Miles (Shea) and Justin G'Fellers; and his great grandchildren, Savannah, Josie, Ellie, Sawyer, Millie Rose, Harper and Damian.

Memorial donations can be made in Bill's name to Alpha Baptist Church in c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
