He is survived by: his wife Sharon Cheatham (Cutshall); his children, Rusty Cheatham of Little York, Justin Cheatham of Scottsburg, Indiana, Veronica Cheatham of Austin and Monica Fagersten of Indianapolis, Indiana; his stepchildren, Malina Reynolds of Louisville, Kentucky and Bobby Reynolds of Jacksonville, Florida; his half-sister Marie Chapness of Epping; and his grandchildren, Derek, Karli Sipe, Addison, Emma, Ella Cheatham, Russell Leon "Diesel" Cheatham, III, Sydney, Riley and Korbin Reynolds.
