He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Gambrell and Georgia Gambrell (Williams); and his siblings, Al Gambrell, Allie Campbell, Mildred Gambrell, Georgia Sokolinski, Roy Gambrell and Ray McPhearson.
He is survived by: his wife Mitzie Gambrell (Unthank); his children, Tricia Murphy (Joey) of Scottsburg, Elise Yates (Russell) of Zionsville, Indiana, Claude Alan Gambrell of Jeffersonville and Kenny Gambrell of Scottsburg, Indiana; his sister Hazel Roche (Jack) of Moravian Falls; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Amy, Kacey, Jake, Nick and Kensley. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
