He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Merl Fields and Betty Lou Fields (Long); his brother Robert Fields; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Apple. He is survived by: his children, Hali Kay Fields, Bobbi Fields and Justin Bruce; his grandchildren, Garcelynn Carter, Iestyn Jo Bruce, Kilian Bruce and Violet Moon Bruce; and his brother Kevin D. Fields.
