John Helm Obituary

We are sad to announce that on December 5, 2020, at the age of 69, John Helm of Scipio, Indiana, born in Seymour, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles "Chick" and Ruth Evelyn Ertel Helm; and his brother Jeff Helm. He is survived by: his wife Eileen Helm of Scipio; his children, Jonathan Helm (Amanda) of Zionsville, Jeremy Helm (Ashley) of Indianapolis, Brandon (Carrie) and Heather Hanson (Bob); his siblings, Steve (Lila), Tony Helm (Sarah) of North Vernon, Judy Howe (Bob) and Susan Westerman (Ted) of North Vernon; and his grandchildren, Hailey, Breana, Kjia, Payton, Brooks and Harper. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time and masks are required.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Chick Helm Scholarship Fund at the Jennings County Community Foundation.

“I was saddened to hear about my old schoolmate John’s passing.I was not a close friend of his but do remember soaping some windows with him on a Halloween night early on! I also remember running into him at the old Dog&Suds when they renamed it the Helm. My condolences go out to his family. David Amburgey”
