She was predeceased by: her parents, Roscoe Brashears and Clancie Brashears; her husband Jesse McCoy Peterson; and her siblings, Donna Sweet and William Brashears.

She is survived by: her children, Carla Greenya (Dan) of Schererville, IN and Jeffrey Peterson (Lorraine) of Hammond, IN; her grandchildren, Dana DeCrescenzo (Dominic), Dustin Greenya (Cassie), Jennifer Meier (Eric) and Brandon Peterson (Esmeralda); her great grandchildren, Antonio, Camden, Brenna, Colin, Carson, Mason, Jacob, Joshua, Christina (Tony), Ramiro (Daisy), Julianna (Rovi) and Xabi; and her brother Rick Brashears (Marty). She is also survived by seven great-great-grandchildren.
