He was predeceased by: his wife Rita; his parents, John Hynek and Angeline Hynek; his parents-in-law, Vincent and Martha Pszczola; his siblings, Frank Hynek (Lottie), John Hynek (Adi) and Wanda Johnsen (Bernard); and his sister-in-law Ceil Gross (Matt).
He is survived by: his sons, Joseph M. Hynek (Margo) and Dr. Jeffrey Hynek (Elaine); his grandchildren, Michael Hynek (Rachel Mabbott), Matthew Hynek (Lauren), Johnathan Hynek, David Hynek and Rachael Hynek; his great grandchildren, Owen and Liam Hynek; his daughter-in-law Chris Hynek; his sister Anne Troksa (late Eugene); and his sisters-in-law, Clara Wasko (late Walter), Helen Rymarczyk (late Frank) and Barbara Mattingly (Lynn). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to charity of choice.
