He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Steele and Ellen Steele; and his siblings, Bill Steele, Mary Ellen Steele, Shirley Willis and Robert Steele.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Susan Becka (Mike), Lisa Studzinski (Bill), Laura Polaski (Mike), Jennifer Cervantes (Francisco) and Michael Steele (Stacy); his grandchildren, Michelle Piatek (Joey), Michael Becka (Bri), Thomas Studzinski (Carly), Ellen Kemp (Chris), Jack Studzinski (Kait), Josie Polaski (Brett), Mitch Polaski (Mikaela), Trevor Polaski, Cole Cervantes, Connor Cervantes, Taylor Steele, Jake Steele, Nick Steele, Jordan Steele and Avery Steele; and his great grandchildren, Ben, Julia, Ellie and Daphne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given toward Shriner's Children's Hospital.
