We bid farewell to John Kokenis of Schererville, Indiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 15, 2024 at the age of 78. John touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his sibling Gene Kokenis (Georgia); his nephew Greg Kokenis (Carrie); and his parents, Louis Kokenis and Mary Kokenis (Greven). He is survived by: his wife Rosemary; his brother James Kokenis (Ruby); his nieces and nephews, Louis Kokenis (Maggie), Kevin Kokenis (Sierra), Caroline Carollo (Joe), Jeannine Ramirez (Burt), Gerri Zygowicz (Jeff), Michael Nastav (Jill), Katie Bajda (Michael) and Elliott Bajda (Kaylyn); his aunt Ann Greven (late James); and his friend Jim Carnahan (Shirley).
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Maria Goretti Church (500 Northgate Dr, Dyer, IN 46311). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Maria Goretti Church, St. Maria Goretti Outreach (Food Pantry) or the St. Jude Children's Hospital, would be appreciated.
