James Daniel Ruf Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Daniel Ruf of Schererville, Indiana, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on November 6, 2023 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel J. "Bud" Ruf and Ann Ruf; and his in-laws, Frank and Alice Bugaski. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Bugajski; his children, Jennifer, Steven Poskin, Jill and Justin Hornsby; his granddaughters, Danielle and Hailey Poskin; his siblings, Bob Ruf (Felicia Gressette), Pat Serrano (Ernie), Lyn Richmond (Terry) and Jean Medek (Jim); and his siblings-in-law, Don Bugaski and Diane Peoples (late Earl). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's name would be welcomed to St. Michael Education Foundation, Andrean High School Athletics, or Humane Society of the Calumet Area. As his final gift, we are proud that Jim was able to provide to others in need through the Gift of Hope organ donation program.
