He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Whitson and Evelyn Whitson; his stepmother Jenny Whitson (Tiddles); his sister Patricia Andres; and his grandson Kenneth Alexander.
He is survived by: his children, Phillip Whitson II (Chrystal), Gretna Lamb and Shonna Richardson (Casey); his significant other Sara House; and his siblings, Ray Whitson (Karen), Lorna Wilburn (Chuck) and Phyllis Gentry (Doug). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
