He was predeceased by: his stepdaughter Paula Huff; his siblings, Lloyd Tompkins, Marshall Stewart, Richard Stewart and Linda McKinght; and his nieces, Susan Lee and Teresa Hollen-Smedley.
He is survived by: his son Herman; his grandmother Green Tompkins of Salem; his children, Lonnie Tompkins and Vonnie Atkins; his stepdaughters, Andrea Montgomery and Nancy Horine; his siblings, William Tompkins, Ernie Stewart, Joyce Fultz and Paula Cheatham; and his niece Rhonda Smith. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
