He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Henry and Ethel May Harris Smallwood; and his brothers, Charles Smallwood and Kenny Smallwood. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Hamlin Smallwood of Hardinsburg; his children, Paul McGaughey of Hardinsburg, Joseph Smallwood Jr. (Dana) of Georgetown and Leslie McGaughey of Mitchell; and his siblings, Jerry Smallwood of Elizabeth, Gary Smallwood of Louisville, Darrell Smallwood of Louisville, Jimmy Smallwood of New Haven, Bobby Smallwood of Leitchfield, Doris Willis of Murfreesboro and Sheila Henderson of Leitchfield. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
