He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Chenoweth Mead and Helen Genevieve Mead (Kiefer). He is survived by: his wife Mary Mead (Boling); his children, Sean Mead, Angela Mead and Heather Jordan (Mark); his siblings, Jim Mead (Barbara), Jerry Mead and Joan Manley; his grandchildren, Jordan (Santos), Cassie Stout, Sydney Jordan and Reagan Jordan; and his great grandchild Cooper Bane.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cornerstone Hall (1500 Rc Morris Dr, Salem, IN 47167). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (208 S Shelby St, Salem, IN 47167). A burial was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery (208 S Shelby St, Salem, IN 47167).

Donations in John's honor can be made to the Washington County Community Foundation or to the Salem Rotary Club.
