He was predeceased by: his parents, Whetzel Adkins and Zettie Calhoun Adkins; his wife Janice C. Adkins; his daughter Gina Tanksley; and his brothers, Carlos, Bob and Bill Adkins.
He is survived by: his children, Gary Wayne Adkins (Nicole) of Memphis, Ted Taylor of Salem, Damion Adkins of Salem and Laraine Moore (Gary) of Bedford; and his siblings, David Adkins of Salem, Bert Adkins of Salem, Bonnie Evaline of Salem, Sue Soliday of Arkansas and Kathy Humphrey of Salem. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
