He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard M. Knapp and Lula Mae Clipp Knapp; and his sister Patty Knapp. He is survived by: his children, Eric Knapp (Darlena) of Campbellsburg, Frederick D. Knapp (Cody) of Salem, Toni Clark (David) of Fayetteville, Gail Wisecarver (R. J. Acree) of Louisville, Jill Motsinger (Josh) of Westfied, Erin Robbins of Salem and Brittney Clark (Marty) of Orleans; and his brothers, Jack Knapp (Sandy) of Salem and Tom Knapp Campbellsburg (Darryl Rowe). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.
