He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Gilstrap Sr. and Irene Ballou Gilstrap; his brothers, John F. "Jack" Gilstrap Jr. and Terry Gilstrap; and his granddaughter Kaylen Jackson.
He is survived by: his children, Jacqueline Gilstrap of Salem, Jennifer Gilstrap (Gerald Ambers) of Salem, Allisyn Timberlake of Connecticut and Kyle Gilstrap of New York; and his siblings, Arthur O. Gilstrap Sr. of Salem and Phyllis Crawford of Salem. He is also survived by five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
