He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Gilstrap and Irene Gilstrap (Ballew); his wife Patricia S. Gilstrap (Brown); his sons, Mark and Joseph Gilstrap; and his brothers, Jack, Donnie and Terry Gilstrap.
He is survived by: his son Arthur O. Gilstrap Jr. of Salem; his sister Phyllis Crawford of Salem; and his stepchildren, Chad, Trent Porter and Kelly Neihouse. He is also survived by 6 Grandchildren and 1 Great grandson.
