He was predeceased by: his parents, Reed Simpson and Sue Etzler Simpson. He is survived by: his wife Anna Spaulding Roney; his children, Derek Simpson (Sarah) of Franklin, Adria Dupin (David) of Salem and Kristin Huffman (Aaron) of Seymour; and his sister Karen Owens (Paul) of Port Charlotte, Florida.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
