He was predeceased by: his siblings, Michael Ruiter, Theodore Ruiter, Ida Kooy, Grace Van Der, Ruth Barker and Gloria Jansma.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Hough (Donald), Laura Maguire (Mike), Jon Ruiter (Dawn), Tamara Hanenburg (Jim) and Kristin Erwin; and his sisters, Gertrude Scheeringa and Betty Wiersma. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
