He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee H Smiley and Jennie Smiley (Catron); his wife Carolyn Sharpe; and his son-in-law Tom Lott. He is survived by: his children, David Smiley (Cathy) of Mulberry, IN, Kevin Smiley (Jane) of Rushville, IN and Jennifer Lott (Tom). He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
