He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe E. Cottongim and Minnie B. Brown Cottongim; his wife Alberta Marie Brotton Cottongim; and his brothers, Lewis, Luther, Lowell, Lee Ralph, Leonard and Lyle Cottongim.
He is survived by: his children, Marsha Standish (John) of Indianapolis and Mark Cottongim (Gina) of Jamestown; and his sisters, Lucy Amburgui of Lexington, Kentucky and Lila Gentry of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
