James E. Straeter Obituary

We bid farewell to James E. Straeter of Rochester, Indiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 13, 2025 at the age of 74. James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Straeter and Mary Straeter (Schumacher); and his brother Frank Straeter. He is survived by: his wife Melinda Straeter; his children, Matthew Straeter (Lindsay) of Rochester, Jesse Straeter (Alycia) of Rochester, Michael Straeter of Rochester, Eric Straeter of Westfield and Hillary Johnson (Brad) of Rochester; his grandchildren, Ellie, Mason, Elijah, Nora, Elena, Lillian, Evelyn, Kaden, Luke and Cameron; and his siblings, Virgil Straeter (Janice) of Highland, IL, Marge Detmer (Mike) of St. Rose, IL, Eileen Straeter-Kerr (Gary) of Springfield, IL, Lori Campbell (Ross) of Rochester, MN and Diane Urzi of St. Louis, MO..

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (1310 Main St, Rochester, IN 46975).
