He was predeceased by: his son Mark Larkey; and his siblings, Bill, Jack, Dick, Larry, Tommy Larkey, Claire Teusch and Jane Smith.

He is survived by: his parents, John Larkey and Lucille Larkey (Scutter); his spouse Mary Deemer; his children, Tami Hurlburt (Leon) of Huntington and Mike Larkey (Kelly) of Roanoke; his siblings, Jerry Larkey of Roanoke, John Larkey (Pam) of Whitley County, Dan Larkey (Jean) of Warren, Randy Larkey (Debbie) of Roanoke and Barbara Covey (Bob) of Huntington; his grandchildren, Jacob Hurlburt (Jessica) of Huntington, Alyssa Scher (Daniel) of Huntington, Mikayla Larkey of Ft. Wayne and Wyatt Larkey of Indianapolis; and his great grandchild Jax Scher of Huntington.
