He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Hern and Virginia Hern; and his sister Patricia. He is survived by: his wife Donna Hern; his children, Lee Hern (Deborah), Martin Abdon and Laura Carmody (John); his grandchildren, Mark (Laura), Taylor, Nathaniel and Anna; and his sister Joan Wetzel (Steve). He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Concordia Lutheran High School.
