He was predeceased by: his parents, Sheldon and Ruth Shoemaker (Jones); and his brothers, Charles, Kenneth and James Shoemaker.

He is survived by: his wife Berniece G. Shoemaker of Roann; his son Michael H. Shoemaker (LouAnn) of Wabash; his grandsons, Ryan Shoemaker (Georganne) of Mentone and Richard Shoemaker of Urbana, Indiana; and his great grandchildren, Elijah Shoemaker of Mentone and Elliana Shoemaker of Mentone.
