He was predeceased by: his brother John. He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Mike (Ginger) and Kassie (Terry); his grandchildren, Julia, Ben, Maren and Sam; and his siblings, Mary (Doon) and Sybrand (Kathy).

Memorial donations may be made to the National Speleological Society, the Boy Scouts of America or Lonestar Preserve.
