He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Lay (Buck) and Thorton Lay; and his siblings, Alton, Jesse, Stanley, Raymond Lay, Datha Carman and Lillie May Lay.
He is survived by: his son Carl William Lay; and his siblings, Carolyn Wright (Terry) of Milan, IN, Linda Cann of East Enterprise, IN, Connie Sigmon of East Enterprise, IN and Chester Lay (Mary) of East Enterprise, IN. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio County EMS or the Switzerland County EMS.
