He was predeceased by: his parents, William Straughter Hampton and Jenerose Ramey Hampton; his sons, Antonio T. Hampton and Robert Scott Scherf; his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Hampton, Christine Shepherd and Judy Jones; and his grandparents, Rev. Julius C. Ramey and Pearl R. Ramey.
He is survived by: his children, Terrilyn Marie Jett, Tammy Jo Hughes (Mike), James A. Hampton, William E. Hampton, Lastash Craig (Nicki), Kathryn Craig and TuShawn D. Craig; his sister Nylah W. Cox of Indianapolis, IN; and his brother-in-law Rev. Steve Jones. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robert departed this life on May 15, 2021 after fighting several battles of Alzheimer, seizure disorders and a stroke.
